Carmelita “Menchie” Escio Aguilar Abalos has been the mayor of Mandaluyong since June 30, 2016. Born in Cavite City, Cavite, Philippines, she turned 56 on July 2, 2018.
On March 22, 1981, Abalos represented Cavite at Binibining Pilipinas 1981 and competed against 31 other candidates at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She was unplaced.
