Romblon is one of the five provinces of the Mimaropa region of the Philippines. The others are Marinduque, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan.

Puerto Princesa is the only independent city in Mimaropa. The city is around 500 kilometers away from the municipality of Romblon, the capital of the province of the same name.

Romblon has 17 municipalities namely Alcantara, Banton, Cajidiocan, Calatrava, Concepcion, Corcuera, Ferrol, Looc, Magdiwang, Odiongan, Romblon, San Agustin, San Andres, San Fernando, San Jose, Santa Fe and Santa Maria. Collectively, these municipalities have 219 barangays.

On August 9, 2009, Dianne de Vera represented Romblon at Mutya ng Pilipinas 2009 and competed against 33 other candidates at the Dr. Juan C. Angara Sports Complex in Baler, Aurora, Philippines. She was unplaced but she won the Miss Friendship award.

On July 10, 2019, Danica Joy Acuña represented Romblon at Miss Philippines Earth 2019 and competed against 39 other candidates at The Cove of Okada Manila in Parañaque, Metro Manila, Philippines. She finished in the Top 10 and was named one of the five runners-up.
