San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines has 21 barangays. The city is home to Club Filipino, the first exclusive social club in the country, and the Filoil EcoOil Centre, an indoor sporting area. 

Joseph Ejercito Estrada served as the mayor of San Juan from 1969 to 1986 and from 2013 to 2019. He was a senator from 1987 to 1992.

Estrada was the vice president of the Philippines from 1992 to 1998 and the president of the country from 1998 to 2000. On April 19, 2019, he turned 82.

On April 15, 2012, Katrina Jayne Dimaranan represented San Juan at Binibining Pilipinas 2012 and competed against 29 other candidates at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila. She ranked third and was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Tourism 2012.

On May 27, 2012, Samantha Purvor represented San Juan at Miss Philippines Earth 2012 and competed against 46 other candidates at the Center Stage of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila. She ranked third and was crowned Miss Philippines Water 2012.
