
Fighting out of Vienna, Austria, Aleksandar Rakić, 27, was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 153.” It was the Serbian-Austrian mixed martial artist’s fourth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 12 MMA matches, “UFC Fight Night 153” took place at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden on June 1, 2019. In the 11th bout of the evening, Rakić fought Jimi “Poster Boy” Manuwa, 39, of London, England in the light heavyweight division with Kevin Sataki as the referee.
In the first round, Rakić and Manuwa traded leg kicks. Sataki put a stop to the light heavyweight contest after 42 seconds in the first round when the Serbian-Austrian MMA fighter knocked out his English opponent via head kick.
“I’m a big challenge for these guys and I’m coming,” Rakić said in his post-fight interview. “I don’t have any specific name in mind but hopefully on Monday I’ll be number 11 and I’ll be focused on the 10 fighters who are ranked above me and climb to the top.”
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 153” improved the professional MMA record of Santos to 17 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw. On the other hand, Manuwa now has 17 wins and 6 losses.
Born in Vienna on February 6, 1992, Rakić is of Serbian descent. He has been competing professionally since 2011.
In 2017, Rakić joined the UFC. The first three opponents he defeated in the promotion were Francimar “Bodão” Barroso, 39, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Justin “El Blanco” Ledet, 30, of Rosharon, Texas, United States and Devin “Brown Bear” Clark, 29, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA.
Rakić solely represented Austria at “UFC Fight Night 153.” Manuwa was one of the two fighters who represented England.
Including Austria, England and Sweden, 15 countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 153.” The other countries were Brazil, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, the Northern Mariana Islands, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, South Korea, Spain and the U.S.
