Universal Records continues to offer the best music from the new generation of Filipino singer-songwriters. One of its latest releases is “Ain’t It Lovely,” the first original English song of former “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” finalist Mark Oblea, 24.

“Ain’t It Lovely” delves further into Oblea’s exploration of the alternative pop genre, being a love song that features more of a folk sound than his previous outings. His rendition of Paraluman’s classic song “Tabi” has garnered over 3.7 million plays on the streaming platform Spotify.

Certainly not a track to miss, “Ain’t It Lovely” has a romantic vibe and a sound that will resonate with today’s generation. The song is written and produced by Fern., who is also a Universal Records artist.

“I’ve always wanted to do a song such as this, one that gives off an indie romantic vibe,” Oblea said of “Ain’t It Lovely. “And at the same time, I want to offer something new to my listeners, as I explore new vocal styles and with this being my first original English track.”

Oblea was born on January 18, 1995 in Bacoor, Cavite, Philippines. In 2016, he joined “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” and made it to the Top 7 but was not chosen as one of the five winners.

In 2018, Universal Records released Oblea’s debut single titled “Langit ‘Pag Nandiyan.” It was was written by Gracenote lead vocalist Eunice Jorge and produced by Ito Rapadas.

Also in 2018, Oblea sang “Fiona,” the theme song for the film “Bakwit Boys.” Produced by T-Rex Productions, the film starred Ryle Santiago, Vance Larena, Nikko Natividad, Devon Seron and Mackie Empuerto.

As an actor, Oblea played Gabriel in the “Wansapanataym” episode “My Hair Lady” in 2017. He also appeared in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” and “Tres” in 2018 and in “Ipaglaban Mo” in 2019.

Under Universal Records, “Ain’t It Lovely” is now available to stream and download on Spotify, iTunes, Apple Music, Deezer and Amazon Music. Meanwhile, watch Oblea’s “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” audition here:
