Legend Fighting Championship is pleased to announce it will return to Macau for the first of several major events lined up over the next 12 months. A pioneer of mixed martial arts in Asia, the Chinese MMA promotion will hold “Legend FC 13” on September 14, 2019.
“Legend FC 13” is set to take place at the prestigious MGM Cotai Theatre under a new partnership with the MGM. Dubbed Asia’s first dynamic theater, the venue will transform into a world-class fighting venue for the first time to welcome the partnership.
Legend FC has yet to announce the “Legend FC 13” fight card. The event marks the promotion’s first return to Macau since June 16, 2012 when Koji “The Commander” Ando, 34, of Japan defeated Rob Hill, 34, of Australia in the main event of “Legend FC 9” at the Grand Hyatt Ballroom.
On January 11, 2010, Legend FC held its first ever event at the Star Hall in Hong Kong. It went on to shape Asia’s MMA scene for years, launching the careers of UFC Middleweight Champion Robert “The Reaper” Whittaker, 28, of Australia, “The Leech” Li Jingliang, 31, of China and “The Dongbei Tiger” Wang Guan, 30, of China.
The most recent event of Legend FC was “Legend FC 12,” which took place at the Tianhe Stadium in Guangzhou, China on September 15, 2018. In the main event, Tian Xi defeated his fellow Chinese fighter He Nannan, 28.
“Macau has major significance for Legend,” Legend FC chairman Matthew Kwok said. “It was the first international market for us outside of Hong Kong so we are very pleased to be returning for this historic event. Macau will also represent the first of several major events planned for the next 12 months including a second event at the MGM Theater in late December 2019.”
Earlier this year, Legend FC announced that Paradigm Sports Management president Audie Attar had joined the promotion. The respected sports manager will serve as a founding board member to play a pivotal role in the business.
