ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 41, of the Philippines will challenge ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 33, of Myanmar at “ONE: Century 世紀” at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan on October 13, 2019. The Burmese mixed martial arts superstar is also reigning as the ONE Middleweight World Champion.
“ONE: Century 世紀” marks the 100th live event of ONE Championship. It also marks the first time Vera is challenging a champion in a different division in the promotion.
“I am thrilled to announce that ONE Championship is set to throw the biggest martial arts event in history this October in Tokyo, Japan,” ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong stated. “ONE Championship has come a long way since 2011 and is ushering in a new era for martial arts across the globe. ‘ONE: CENTURY 世紀’ is our historic 100th live event.”
“Set at the iconic Ryōgoku Kokugikan, three World Championship bouts are scheduled to take place alongside three World Grand Prix Championships,” Chatri continued. “In addition, ONE Championship will be holding the inaugural World Martial Arts Week, which kicks off with our very first ONE Martial Arts Fan Fest. The biggest and brightest stars of ONE Championship are ready to shine in Tokyo, and fans will surely not want to miss the festivities.”
The rematch between ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee, 22, of Singapore and ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan, 31, of China will also take place at “ONE: A New Era.” The Chinese fighter will make an attempt to be become a two-division title by challenging Lee in the atomweight division.
Also from the Philippines, Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, 31, will challenge ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes, 39, of Brazil at “ONE: Century 世紀.” This is the fourth time the two mixed martial artists are competing in the ONE Championship cage.
