Chan Rothana, 33, of Cambodia will face Gustavo “El Gladiador” Balart, 32, of Cuba at “ONE: Dreams of Gold”. ONE Championship will hold the combat sports event at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on August 16, 2019.

“ONE: Dreams of Gold” will feature mixed martial arts, kickboxing and Muay Thai. One of the MMA bouts is between Rothana and Balart.

While Rothana is a ONE Cambodia Featherweight GP Finalist and Kun Khmer specialist, Balart is a Pan-American Greco-Roman Wrestling Champion. They will compete in the flyweight division.

In the main event of “ONE: Dreams of Gold”, Ilias Ennahachi, 23, of the Netherlands will challenge reigning ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Champion “The Baby Shark” Petchdam Petchyindee Academy, 21, of Thailand. Also on the card is the rematch between Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan, 33, of Italy and “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut, 29, of Thailand for the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix semi-finals.

Rothana was at Site Two Refugee Camp, which is on the border of Cambodia and Thailand. He is a son of a Khmer martial art Yutakhun Khom master.

When Rothana was 17 years old, he started competing in Kun Khmer. He first trained Hapkido before switching to Bokator then to Yuthakun Khom and to Vovinam.

Currently, Rothana holds a professional MMA record of 6 wins and 3 losses. He is training out of Selapak and Fight For Good MMA in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Gustavo Balart

On the other hand, Balart currently has 8 wins and 2 losses. He is training out of American Top Team in Miami, Florida, United States.

Balart was born in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. As an amateur Greco-Roman wrestler, he won gold in his division at the Pan American Games in Mexico in 2011 and represented Cuba at the Summer Olympics in London, England in 2012.

On February 10, 2019, Balart turned 32. He is 4’11” tall.
