
Cristiane “Cris Cyborg” Justino, 34, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil was one of the winners at “UFC 240.” It was the Brazilian mixed martial artist’s sixth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional MMA bouts, “UFC 240” took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 27, 2019. In the co-main event of the evening, Justino competed in the women’s featherweight division against Felicia “Feenom” Spencer, 28, of Winter Park, Florida, United States with Yves Lavigne as the referee.
After three five-minute rounds, the featherweight bout was left in the hands of the three judges, who unanimously scored it 30-27. In the end, Lavigne raised the hand of Justino, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
“The sport is growing and better girls keep showing up,” Justino said in her post-fight interview. “I’m really happy because when I started MMA, there weren’t any girls. Seeing girls in the cage makes me proud.”
Winning at “UFC 240” improved the professional MMA record of Justino to 21 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Spencer now has 7 wins and 1 loss.
Including Brazil and the U.S., seven countries were represented at “UFC 240.” The others were Canada, Japan, Poland, Russia and South Korea.
Justino was one of the four fighters who represented Brazil at “UFC 240.” Aubin-Spencer was one of the six athletes who represented the U.S.
