Krzysztof Jotko, 29, of Poland was one of the winners at “UFC 240.” It was the Polish mixed martial artist’s seventh victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional MMA bouts, “UFC 240” took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 27, 2019. In the seventh bout of the evening, Jotko competed in the middleweight division against Marc-Andre “Power Bar” Barriault, 29, of Canada with Herb Dean as the referee.
After three five-minute rounds, the middleweight bout was left in the hands of the judges, who scored it 29-28, 28-29 and 29-28. In the end, Dean raised the hand of Jotko, who was declared the winner via split decision.
“My game plan was to box but he started pressuring me with dirty-boxing,” Jotko said of Barriault in his post-fight interview. “I switched the game plan and began pressing him into the cage. I decided to beat him at his game. I feel even more motivation to fight in enemy territory.”
Winning at “UFC 240” improved the professional MMA record of Jotko to 21 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Barriault now has 11 wins and 3 losses.
Including Poland and Canada, seven countries were represented at “UFC 240.” The others were Brazil, Japan, Russia, South Korea and the United States.
Jotko solely represented Poland at “UFC 240.” Barriault was one of the five athletes who represented Canada.
Competing professionally since 2010, Jotko made his debut in the UFC in 2013. The first six opponents he defeated in the promotion were Bruno Santos, Tor Troeng, Scott Askham, Bradley Scott, Tamdan McCrory, Thales Leites and Alen Amedovski.
