
Arman Tsarukyan, 22, of Khabarovsk, Russia was one of the winners at “UFC 240.” It was the Russian mixed martial artist’s first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional MMA bouts, “UFC 240” took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on July 27, 2019. In the eighth bout of the evening, Tsarukyan competed in the lightweight division against Olivier “The Canadian Gangster” Aubin-Mercier, 30, of Quebec, Canada with Marc Goddard as the referee.
After three five-minute rounds, the lightweight bout was left in the hands of the three judges, who unanimously scored it 29-28. In the end, Goddard raised the hand of Tsarukyan, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
“It was a victory and an okay fight,” Tsarukyan said in his post-fight interview. “It definitely wasn’t my best performance. I wish I could have shown the fans more of my game but I’m just happy to have the victory.”
Winning at “UFC 240” improved the professional MMA record of Tsarukyan to 14 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Aubin-Mercier now has 11 wins and 5 losses.
Including Russia and Canada, seven countries were represented at “UFC 240.” The others were Brazil, Japan, Poland, South Korea and the United States.
Tsarukyan solely represented Russia at “UFC 240.” Aubin-Mercier was one of the five athletes who represented Canada.
