Lito Adiwang, 26, of the Philippines is officially joining ONE Championship after receiving a six-figure contract with the promotion. The Filipino mixed martial artist who competes in the strawweight division earned the reward after winning in the main event of “ONE Warrior Series 7.”
ONE Championship held “ONE Warrior Series 7” in Singapore on August 6, 2019 featuring one Muay Thai contest and 14 professional MMA matches. In the 15th bout of the evening, Adiwang competed in an MMA match in the strawweight division against Anthony “The Antidote” Do, 26, of Vietnam with Isaac Yap as the referee.
After three five-minute rounds, the bout was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Yap raised the hand of Adiwang, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.
“With Lito moving on to ONE Championship, no doubt the already stacked strawweight division will take notice of his power and explosiveness,” ONE Warrior Series director Jonathan Fong stated. “Look for him to make an immediate impact as soon as he gets the call.”
Adiwang is training out of Team Lakay in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines. The reigning ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio, 23, is his teammate.
“Lito always put on the most exciting performances every time he stepped into the ONE Warrior Series ring,” Fong commented. “In fact, he’s even won a Warrior Bonus in every appearance, which is a testament to his abilities.”
Like Fong, ONE Warrior Series CEO Rich Franklin is also very impressed with Adiwang’s performances in ONE Warrior Series. To the fighters who are in ONE Championship’s strawweight division, Franklin said they should take note of Adiwang because he is “coming to shake things up.”
Team Lakay head coach Mark Sangiao was in Adiwang’s corner at “ONE Warrior Series 7.” Watch all the 15 bouts here:
