Judo champion and women’s mixed martial arts top prospect Luana Pinheiro, 25, of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil has a date set for her return to Brave Combat Federation. After an impressive promotional debut victory at “Brave 11” on April 13, 2018, she is now scheduled to take on Venezuelan sensation Yasmeli Araque, 33, of Tovar, Merida, Venezuela.
Pinheiro and Araque will face each other in the main card of “Brave 26” at the Coliseo Hernan Jaramillo in Ciudad Salitre, Bogota, Colombia, on September 7, 2019. They will compete in the women’s strawweight division.
Born on November 18, 1994 in João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil, Pinheiro started off her martial arts career in judo, where she won a South American championship, before focusing herself in developing her MMA skills in late 2016. After starting off her MMA professional career with a record of 4 wins and 1 loss, she made her Brave CF debut at “Brave 11” where she quickly locked in a guillotine choke against fellow Brazilian Elaine “Pantera” Leal, 30.
Now, Pinheiro is set to leave Brazil for the first time to fight in MMA as she is paired up against a Venezuelan opponent. “Brave 26” marks the first time Brave CF is holding an event in the capital of Colombia.
The professional MMA record of Araque is not as impressive as that of Pinheiro. However, the Venezuelan fighter has an extensive striking background as well as national titles in several disciplines.
“Brave 26” will be headlined by a clash of generations as MMA veteran and Brave CF debutante Felipe Silva, 35, of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil takes on top prospect Guram Kutateladze, 27, of Georgia and Sweden. Also set for fight night is the return of featherweight athlete Gabriel “Fly” Miranda, 29, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil who will take on Jon “The Problem” Zarate of Bogota in the co-main event of the evening.
Brave CF is holding “Brave 26” under a groundbreaking partnership with Latin Fighter Championship. The collaboration is aimed towards the development of MMA in the region and beyond.
