Sega has confirmed that it will release the seventh game in its “Yakuza” series on January 16, 2020 for PlayStation 4 in Japan. The multinational video game developer and publisher also revealed the story, main characters and voice actors of the game.
The protagonist of “Yakuza 7” is Ichiban Kasuga (Kazuhiro Nakaya). He is a former yakuza of the Arakawa Clan, which is now affiliated with the Tojo clan.
“Yakuza 7” takes place in the city of Isezaki Ijin in Yokohama. After an incident on December 31, 2000, Ichiban turns himself to the police to protect one of his bosses.
The story of “Yakuza 7” will depict two eras. These are the details of the incident involving Ichiban in 2000 and the events of his life after prison in 2019.
Ichiban sacrificed himself for the crimes of Jō Sawashiro (Shinichi Tsutsumi), the right-hand man of the Arakawa Family. The latter always loathed the protagonist.
The leader of the Arakawa Family is Masumi Arakawa (Kiichi Nakai). He is the father figure of Ichiban.
In place of Masumi, Ichiban was charged with murder and served a prison sentence. Eighteen years later, the protagonist was released.
All of the Tojo Clan disappeared. The Omi Alliance, a yakuza organization from Osaka, took over Kamuro.
The Omi Alliance has fully accepted Jō despite his past as part of the Tojo Clan. Currently, he is holding as much power as any other executive class member of the Omi Alliance.
Ichiban is surprised to know that Masumi Arakawa allied himself and all of the Arakawa Clan to the Omi Alliance and the protagonist’s father figure is the mastermind behind everything.
To verify this, Ichiban plans to reunite with Masumi. The protagonist will meet a homeless man named Nanba (Ken Yasuda).
A former nurse, Nanba was fired from the hospital he was working at when he was caught stealing and reselling drugs. His nurse license was revoked and he ended up becoming homeless in Isezaki Ijincho in Yokohama.
When Masumi shot Ichiban, Nanba saved the life of the protagonist by patching him up. Since then, Ichiban and Nanba stick together.
The Tojo Clan was annihilated because of Masumi. When he joined the Omi Alliance, he leaked information about the Tojo Clan to the police and he is now considered the second highest person of the Omi alliance.
