
Anthony “Fluffy” Hernandez, 25, of Dunnigan, California, United States was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 157,” which is also known as “UFC on ESPN+ 15.″ It was his first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC Fight Night 157” took place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China on August 31, 2019. In the sixth bout of the evening, Hernandez competed in the middleweight division against Jun Yong “The Iron Turtle” Park, 30, of Seoul, South Korea.
Steve Perceval served as the referee. He put a stop to the middleweight contest after 4 minutes and 39 second in the second round when Hernandez submitted Park via anaconda choke.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 157” improved the professional MMA record of Hernandez to 7 wins, 1 loss, 0 draw, and 1 No Contest. On the other hand, Park now has 10 wins and 4 losses.
“I was trying to have some fun,” Hernandez said after his victory. “I need that performance bonus so I just decided to have fun, play around. I know I can take a shot and what I can give so I got in there and had fun.”
Eight countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 157” namely Brazil, China, Japan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and the United States. Hernandez was one of the four representatives of the U.S. while Park was one of the two representatives of the South Korea.
“UFC Fight Night 157” marked the second UFC bouts of Hernandez and Park. The American contender is training out of MMA Gold Fight Team in El Dorado Hills, California while the Korean fighter is training out of Korean Top Team in Seoul.
Hernandez was born in the U.S. on October 18, 1993 and he has been competing professionally since 2014. Before joining the UFC, he competed in West Coast Fighting Championship, Global Knockout and Legacy Fighting Alliance.
In the main event of “UFC Fight Night 157,” “Magnum” Zhang Weili, 30, became the new UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion by dethroning defending champion Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade, 27, of Parana, Brazil. Meanwhile, here is a clip featuring Hernandez:
