Lika-Senj County’s Katarina Mamic to represent Croatia at Miss World 2019 in London

Katarina Mamic, 22, will represent Croatia at Miss World 2019 in London, England, United Kingdom. She is the 28th woman from her country to compete in the international beauty pageant.

Hailing from Lika-Senj County, Croatia, Mamic is a university student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism while working as a part-time model. Her father is from Tomislavgrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina while her mother is from Smiljan, Croatia, according to Tomislavcity.

Miss World Croatia 2019

Representing Lika-Senj County, Mamic was crowned Miss World Croatia 2019 on August 31, 2019 in Mali Losinj, a town in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County on the island of Lošinj in the western part of Croatia. It was the first time the beauty pageant was held on the island.

Besting 14 other candidates, Mamic was crowned by Miss World Croatia 2018 Ivana Mudnić, who did not place at Miss World 2018. Marija Rogic from Zagreb, Croatia and Iva Mijolovic from Zadar County, Croatia were first and second runners-up to Mamic, respectively.

As Miss World Croatia 2019, Mamic received several gifts from sponsors including cosmetics from Ziaja, Silky for hair, shoes from Shoe Selection worth 2500 kuna and gifts from jewelry shop Prahir, Amarthina collection, Essence cosmetics, Muller, Topusko, Poliklinika Niveus, Blista and Dr. Zgaljardic, according to Croatia Week. Most of the clothes given to her for her to wear in Miss World will be handed to her as her reward upon her return to Croatia.

For one year, Mamic will enjoy the use of the Opel Mokka X vehicle and free services at salon Marcela and at the MBS center. In addition, she received a scholarship from the Zagreb University of Business and a Profokus College scholarship.

Miss World 2019

On December 14, 2019, Mamic will compete against 110 other candidates from around the world for the Miss World 2019 title at the ExCeL London in London. The successor of Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce, 27, of Mexico will be the 70th woman to hold the title.

If Mamic wins Miss World 2019, she will be the first ever titleholder of the international beauty pageant from her country. The best performance of a candidate from Croatia in Miss World was by Anica Martinovic who was runner-up to Miss World 1995 Jacqueline Aguilera of Venezuela.
