
Da Un Jung, 25, of Daegu, South Korea was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 157,” which is also known as “UFC on ESPN+ 15.″ It was his first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Featuring 11 professional mixed martial arts bouts, “UFC Fight Night 157” took place at the Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China on August 31, 2019. In the fourth bout of the evening, Jung competed in the light heavyweight division against Khadis Ibragimov, 24, of St. Petersburg, Russia.
Leon Roberts served as the referee. He put a stop to the contest after 2 minutes in the third round when Jung submitted Ibragimov via guillotine choke, breaking the undefeated record of the Russian contender.
Winning at “UFC Fight Night 157” improved the professional MMA record of Jung to 12 wins and 2 losses. On the other hand, Ibragimov now has 8 wins and 1 loss.
Eight countries were represented at “UFC Fight Night 157” namely Brazil, China, Japan, Mongolia, New Zealand, Russia, South Korea and the United States. Ibragimov was one of the two representatives of Russia while Jung was one of the two representatives of South Korea.
“UFC Fight Night 157” marked the UFC debuts of Ibragimov and Jung. The Russian contender is training out of Sambo-Piter in St. Petersburg while the Korean fighter is training out of Korean Top Team in Seoul, South Korea.
Jung was born in South Korea on December 18, 1993 and he has been competing professionally since 2015. Before joining the UFC, he competed in Top Fighting Championship, Heat, Art of War and Chinese Taipei MMA Association.
In the main event of “UFC Fight Night 157,” “Magnum” Zhang Weili, 30, became the new UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion by dethroning defending champion Jéssica “Bate Estaca” Andrade, 27, of Parana, Brazil. In the co-main event, Elizeu “Capoiera” Zaleski dos Santos, 32, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil lost to“The Leech” Li Jingliang, 31,of Xinjiang, China in the welterweight division.
