Esther Monalisa Chiredzero, 20, will represent Zimbabwe in Miss Earth 2019. She is the seventh woman to represent the country in the annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental care.
Chiredzero hails from Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe. The city hosted the 8th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1986, the d Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 1991, the Assembly of the World Council of Churches in 1998, some of the Cricket World Cup matches in 2003 and the International Cricket Council (ICC) Cricket World Cup Qualifier in 2018.
Recently, Chiredzero was appointed as Miss Earth Zimbabwe 2019. Prior to Miss Earth 2019, the Harare native competed in several beauty pageants.
In 2017, Chiredzero competed in Miss World Zimbabwe and finished as a finalist. She also competed in Miss Global Super Model and was crowned Miss Elegant International in 2018.
On October 26, 2019, Chiredzero will compete against approximately 95 women from around the world for the title Miss Earth 2019 at the Jesse M. Robredo Coliseum in Naga City, Philippines. If she wins the title, she will be the beauty pageant’s first ever titleholder from Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe was represented in Miss Earth by Myome Omar in 2007, by Thandi Muringa in 2011, by Dimitra Markou in 2012, by Samantha Dika in 2013, Sandiswe Bhule in 2014 and Sharon Enkromelle Andrew in 2016. They are all from Harare except Markou, who is from Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe.
Only one candidate from Zimbabwe has ever placed in Miss Earth. Muringa finished in the Top 8 in Miss Earth 2011, which took place in the University of the Philippines in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines on December 4, 2011.
