ONE Championship, Pancrase, Shooto leaders grace ‘ONE: Century 世紀’ event in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan

ONE Championship held the official “ONE: Century 世紀” media day at the Park Hyatt in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan on September 17, 2019. It was graced by the Singapore-based martial arts organization’s Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong along with Pancrase CEO Masakazu Sakai and Shooto CEO Kazuhiro Sakamoto.

On March 31, 2019, ONE Championship held “ONE: A New Era” at Ryōgoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, marking the promotion’s first ever event to take place in Japan. The promotion also recently entered into partnerships with mixed martial arts promotions Pancrase and Shooto, which are both based in Japan.

On October 13, 2019, ONE Championship will return to Ryōgoku Kokugikan for “ONE: CENTURY 世紀,” its second event to take place in Japan. It also marks its 100th live event.

“ONE Championship aims to bring the spirit of martial arts back to Japan with our historic 100th live event,” Chatri stated. “I am extremely grateful to have the support of the best Japanese athletes in the world and the Japanese people. Five years from now, I hope to have all of Japan join us in our mission to bring inspiration to the world through our heroes, our values and our stories.”

“As a company, our impact on society is enormous,” Chatri continued. “We take this responsibility very seriously. For me, the most important thing is showcasing the very best of humanity.”

“ONE Championship is inspiring the people of the world to chase their dreams and to be the best they can be, to dream more, do more and be more in life,” the ONE Championship chairman and CEO added. He was accompanied at the the official “ONE: CENTURY 世紀” media day by ONE Esports CEO Carlos Alimurung and President of ONE Championship Japan Andy Hata.

Several Japanese ONE Championship athletes attended the event including former ONE Lightweight World Champion Shinya “Tobikan Judan” Aoki, Japanese legend Yushin “Thunder” Okami and former ONE World Title challenger Mei “V.V” Yamaguchi. Other attendees include ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon and celebrity special guests Jurina Matsui, Dante and Junko Yaginuma.
