Vartika Singh, 26, will represent India in Miss Universe 2019. She is the 56th woman to represent the country in the international beauty pageant run by the Miss Universe Organization, which is currently owned by the WME/IMG talent agency.
Born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India on August 27, 1993, Singh spent her childhood in Chitrakoot, Madhya Pradesh, India. She attended Canossa Convent School, I.T. College and the University of Lucknow.
Singh loves dancing and sports. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics and a master’s degree in Public Health.
In 2014, Singh competed in Miss Diva, the national beauty pageant that sends India’s representatives to Miss Universe, Miss Supranational, Mister Supranational and formerly Miss Earth. She won the Reliance Miss Photogenic award and finished in the Top 7.
In 2015, Singh competed in Femina Miss India, which sends India’s representatives to Miss World, Miss Grand International and Miss United Continents. She won the Beauty with a Purpose, Best National Costume and Miss Photogenic awards and was crowned Miss Grand India 2015.
Representing India, Singh competed in Miss Grand International 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. On October 25, 2015, she finished second runner-up.
No Miss Diva pageant was held in 2019. During a ceremony on September 26, 2019, the organization announced the three handpicked winners namely Singh as Miss Diva Universe 2019, Shedali Sood as Miss Diva Supranational 2019 and Varun Verna as Mister Supranational India 2019.
The awarding ceremony took place at the Rocky Star Cocktail Bar in Mumbai, India. It was attended by Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut,
Nehal Chudasama,23, of Mumbai was present during the crowning ceremony to crown Singh as her successor. Chudasama was unplaced when she represented India in Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok.
If Singh wins Miss Universe 2019, she will be the international beauty pageant’s third titleholder from her country. The first one was Sushmita Sen who was crowned Miss Universe 1994 on May 21, 1994 at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay, Philippines.
Lara Dutta was the second one. On May 12, 2000, she was crowned Miss Universe 2000 at the Eleftheria Indoor Hall in Nicosia, Cyprus.
Catriona Gray, 25, of the Philippines is the reigning Miss Universe 2018. She is the fourth Miss Universe from her country and the 67th woman to hold the title.
