Ariana Grande is the frontrunner of the 2019 MTV Europe Music Awards, having secured seven nods. MTV announced the nominees on October 2, 2019.
Grande’s nominations include Best Artist and Best Video for her viral hit “thank you, next” as well as Best Song alongside Shawn Mendes and EMA nominee newcomers Lil Nas X and Billie Eilish, who all follow Grande with six nods each. Latin American sensation J Balvin follows closely with five nominations including Best Artist and Lizzo and Taylor Swift join the above contenders for Best U.S. Act scoring four nods each.
To tease this year’s nominees, MTV poured fans a taste of Seville, Spain with beautiful coffee art reveals. As a play on the traditional Spanish cortado, the nominees for Best Artist, Best Video and Biggest Fans were revealed via artistic foam cream visuals. The videos premiered across MTV’s global digital platforms and a coalition of media partners.
Grande, Swift, Mendes, Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy are among those nominated for Best Act in their respective home regions. Nominated in the Best Southeast Asia Act category are Rich Brian of Indonesia, Yuna of Malaysia, Moira Dela Torre of the Philippines, Jasmine Sokko of Singapore, Jannine Weigel of Thailand and Suboi of Vietnam.
Voting is now open at mtvema.com until November 2, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. CET. Fans can cast votes beginning October 2, 2019.
The MTV EMAs 2019 will broadcast LIVE across the globe on November 3, 2019 from FIBES, Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville. It will broadcast live on MTV Asia on November 4, 2019, starting with the red carpet premiere at 2.00 a.m. (WIB), 3.00 a.m. (SG/MY/PH), and 4.00 a.m. (MY – Astro) followed by the main show at 3.00 a.m (WIB), 4.00 a.m. (SG/MY/PH) and 5.00 a.m. (MY – Astro).
Catch the primetime encore telecast on the same day with the red carpet at 7.00 p.m. (WIB) and 8.00 p.m. (SG/MY/PH) and the main show at 7.50 PM (WIB) and 8.50 PM (SG/MY/PH). The 2019 MTV EMA red carpet is sponsored by the upcoming film “Charlie’s Angels,” which stars Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.
