Pancrase champ Hiroyuki Tetsuka beats Shooto champ Hernani Perpetuo at ‘ONE: Century 世紀’ in Tokyo, Japan

Shooto Welterweight Champion Hernani Perpetuo, 34, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Pancrase Welterweight Champion Hiroyuki “Last Samurai” Tetsuka, 29, of Tochigi, Japan battled it out at “ONE: Century 世紀” in Tokyo, Japan on October 12, 2019. It was the latter who emerged as the winner.

“ONE: Century 世紀” was the second ONE Championship event held in Japan and it marked the martial arts organization’s 100th live event. The combat sports event had two parts with 11 bouts each.

Featuring mixed martial arts, Muay Thai and kickboxing matches, “ONE: Century 世紀” took place at the Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on October 12, 2019. In the second bout of the second part, Perpetuo  and Tetsuka competed in an MMA bout in the welterweight division.

Kemp Cheng served as the referee of the intense showdown between welterweight competitors. Perpetuo figured in a three-round war to the delight of the Ryogoku Kokugikan crowd.

With every strike, Perpetuo tried his best to match Tetsuka. But the Japanese warrior proved much too powerful.

After three five-minute rounds, the lightweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. In the end, Cheng raised the hand of Kume, who was declared the winner via unanimous decision.

Tetsuka represents Tekka’s Gym Fighting Crew. He now holds a professional MMA record of 20 wins and 8 losses.

Perpetuo is training out of Nova União. He now has 8 wins and 3 losses.

 

“ONE: Century 世紀” was the second ONE Championship event held in Japan. It marked the martial arts organization’s 100th live event.

Including Brazil and Japan, 18 countries were represented in the two parts of “ONE: Century 世紀.” The others were Algeria, Belarus, China, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and the United States.

Perpetuo was one of the four fighters who represented Brazil while Tetsuka was one of the 12 representatives of Japan. Watch the highlights of “ONE: Century 世紀” part 2 here:
