Julia Barretto, 22, is now directly involved in the controversial family feud of the Barrettos in the Philippines. She was accused of physically attacking her aunt Claudine Barretto, 40.
On October 22, 2019, Julia’s mother Marjorie Barretto, 45, gave her version of the controversy in an interview of Karen Davila on “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN on October 22, 2019. According to Marjorie, Claudine borrowed money from Enrico “Recom” Echiverri, 64, “some time before March (2019).”
Echiverri is the father of Marjorie’s fifth child Erich Barretto, 7. Including Julia and Erich, Marjorie has five children.
Kier Legaspi, 46, and Marjorie have one daughter named Aynrand Danielle “Dani” Barretto, 26. From 1995 to 2006, Marjorie was married to Dennis Esteban Dominguez Baldivia, 57, who is professionally known as Dennis Padilla.
Julia is the eldest child of Padilla and Marjorie. The former couple has two other children namely Claudia Isabelle “Claudia” Barretto Baldivia, 20, and Leon Marcus “Leon” Barretto Baldivia, 14.
Marjorie and Claudine’s father Miguel Alvir Barretto passed away on October 15, 2019. In an interview with DZMM on October 23, 2019, Claudine admitted that she had anxiety disorder.
According to Claudine, Marjorie was irritated because Claudine and their sister Gretchen Barretto, 49, had invited a reporter to the wake on October 16, 2019. Claudine admitted that she was provoked when Marjorie was trying to make fun of her anxiety disorder so she slapped her older sister.
In an interview with Julia with ABS-CBN News on October 21, 2019, she was asked about the feud between her mother and her aunts. The actress claimed that she was not involved in the feud.
“Well, I think it’s natural for everybody to be concerned but I think it’s also nice if everybody would give the family the privacy and the respect to resolve their issues pero wala po kasi akong kinalaman diyan e (but I have nothing to do with that actually),” Julia told ABS-CBN News. “Hindi ko po masasagot ‘yong mga tanong tungkol sa kanila kasi nga po (I cannot answer the questions about them because) it’s not my battle.”
But according to Claudine, Julia did physically attack her and shouted curses at her. Claudine said, “Kaya (That is why) I don’t understand iyong (the), ‘It’s not my battle.'”
“It’s your battle cause you were the one who laid hands on the person you call Mama,” Claudine continued. “It’s painful.”
