The Philippines will not get rid of the controversy involving the Barretto family in the next few days. Sparking the controversy even more was an interview of Karen Davila with Marjorie Barretto, 45, aired on “TV Patrol” on ABS-CBN on October 22, 2019.

In the interview, Marjorie Barretto, 45, revealed that Enrico “Recom” Echiverri, 64, is the father of her fifth child Erich Barretto, who was born on April 9, 2012. Marjorie added that her younger sister Claudine Barretto, 40, once borrowed money from Echiverri.

“Some time before March, Claudine asked financial help from Recom, okay?” Marjorie told Davila. “I was against it because we were really not in good terms with Claudine. I said, ‘Delikado, delikado (‘It is dangerous, it is dangerous) to associate with her.”

“She’s unstable,” Marjorie said of Claudine. “She’s unstable. I will not say more. Okay?”

“But he said, ‘Kapag hindi natin tinulungan, baka sa iba humingi ng tulong at mapahamak,’ (‘But if we do not help her, she might ask help from others and be put in danger’),” Marjorie said of Echiverri and Claudine. “So with a heavy heart, I let him. So tinulungan niya si Claudine (he helped Claudine). To our surprise, we never thought it was a setup and it was intended to hurt me, harm me and destroy this person when all along, all he really wanted to do was to help her.”

“After that, hindi ko na alam (I do not know),” Marjorie continued. “Maybe, I think Mayor Echiverri is perfectly capable, he is a lawyer also, to answer that.”

On October 19, 2019, Gretchen Barretto, 49, took to Instagram to give a message to Marjorie. The older sister said Claudine has a molestation case to file against Echiverri.
