The Miss Universe 2019 coronation night will take place at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States on December 8, 2019. More than 90 candidates from all over the world are expected to compete in the 68th edition of the international beauty pageant run by the Miss Universe Organization.
Measuring 330 acres, the Tyler Perry Studios is the largest film production studio in the U.S. It was founded in 2006 by actor, writer, producer and director Tyler Perry making him the first ever African-American to own a major film production studio.
Several celebrities attended the Tyler Perry Studios grand opening on October 5, 2019. Among them were Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry, Beyoncé, Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter, Taraji P. Henson, Whoopi Goldberg, Ava DuVernay, Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.
Steve Harvey is returning to host the Miss Universe 2019 coronation night. It will be aired live on Fox as well as on Telemundo for Spanish-speaking viewers.
Catriona Gray is the reigning Miss Universe 2018. She is the fourth Miss Universe from the Philippines.
Gray’s successor will wear a new crown made by Swiss and Emirati luxury jeweler Mouawad. Founded in Beirut, Lebanon by David Mouawad in 1891, the company making and selling jewelry, objects of art and luxury watches is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland with a Middle East headquarters at Jumeirah Lakes Towers in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
This marks the first time Bangladesh and Equatorial Guinea will be represented in Miss Universe. Serafina Eyene, 20, was crowned Miss Universe Equatorial Guinea 2019 on September 7, 2019 and Miss Universe 1994 Sushmita Sen crowned Shirin Akter Shela was crowned Miss Universe Bangladesh 2019 on October 23, 2019.
Some of the candidates were appointed. Among them are Angeline Flor Pua, Maëva Coucke, Vartika Singh, Olga Bulawa, Fiona Tenuta and Hoàng Thùy, the respective representatives of Belgium, France, India, Poland, Uruguay and Vietnam.
