Benguet, Philippines’ Kelvin Vicente is Mr. Universe Tourism 2019 first runner-up

Kelvin Aguilan Vicente, 27, of the Philippines almost won Mister Universe Tourism 2019. The Igorot beauty pageant veteran was named the first runner-up of the international male beauty pageant.

Vicente was born in La Trinidad, Benguet, Philippines on February 6, 1992. He graduated from Cordillera Career Development College in La Trinidad in 2012.

La Trinidad is home to the Strawberry Farm, Mount Kalugong Eco Park, Bahong Rose Gardens and the Stobosa Hillside Homes Artwork. It is near Baguio City, the summer capital of the Philippines.

Before Mr. Universe Tourism 2019, Vicente won several beauty pageant titles in the Philippines. Among them are Model of the Year Tiongsan Fashion Show 2016, Mr. Cordillera-Festival King 2016, Grand Winner Hari ng La Union 2016 and Mr. Casa Fitness Model 2017.

Hosted by Miss Earth Philippines 2013 Angelee delos Reyes and “Culion” actor Nico Locco Fowler, the Mr. Universe Tourism 2019 coronation night took place at the Carlos P. Romulo Theater of the RCPC Plaza in Makati City, Metro Manila, Philippines. It was the third edition of the international male beauty pageant.

It was Surasak Mueangkeaw, 24, of Thailand who was crowned Mister Universe Tourism 2019. Andrew Rorano Karetji, 31, of Indonesia was second runner-up.

Vicente was Best in Swimwear while Surasak was Best in Formal Wear. Karetji won most of the special awards namely Best in National Costume, Best Tourism Video, Best in Talent, Mr. Nix Institute of Beauty and the Ambassador of Peace award.

Min Khant Zwe, 21, of Myanmar won the Mr. Photogenic award. The other candidates were Ali Zebib of Benin, Tushar Mishra, 23, of India, Prajwal Shrestha of Nepal, Mazan Saeed, 31, of Pakistan, David Oliver Keller, 28, of Switzerland and Luan Nguyen of Vietnam.

Mr. Universe Tourism 2018 Brata Angga Kartasasmita of Indonesia graced the coronation night. He was originally named Mr. Universe Tourism 2018 first runner-up but he was promoted when original titleholder Benigno “Ion” Dungon Perez of the Philippines was dethroned due to failure to fulfill his duties.

During the Mr. Universe Tourism 2019 coronation night, it was announced the the fourth edition of the international male beauty pageant will take place in 2020 in Bali, Indonesia. It will be hosted by Kartasasmita.
