Daniel “Gaúcho” Souza Pereira, 28, of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil has a chance to become the inaugural BRAVE Combat Federation Middleweight World Champion. To win the title, he has to defeat Chad “Superman” Hanekom, 27, of Sunninghill, South Africa at “BRAVE CF 31.”
On December 7, 2019, BRAVE CF will hold “BRAVE CF 31” at the Sibaya Casino in Durban, South Africa. The main event is the title bout between Souza and Hanekom.
A heavy-hitter, Souza is unfazed with the home-court advantage of Hanekom. The Brazilian contender promises to deliver yet another highlight-reel knockout when the two meet.
“My expectations are always for a knockout victory and this time is no different really,” Souza stated. “I’m going to go out there looking to get a finish, another KO and BRAVE CF fans in Brazil can get ready because I’m coming home with one more belt for us.”
Souza is keen to put on a show for the South African fans. Aware of the dangers that a complete opponent like Hanekom brings to the table, the Brazilian mixed martial artist feels ready to put his hands on his South African opponent.
“I hope the fans in the arena and around the world will be excited about my fight,” Souza said. “I’m always looking to put on a show and this time will be no different. I know Chad is complete and likes to work on his takedowns and ground control.”
“I’ve worked a lot on defending his takedowns and maintaining the fight on the stand-up,” Souza continued. “I’m confident I can keep the fight standing, put my hands on him and bring home another world title for Brazil.”
“BRAVE CF 31” marks the third BRAVE CF event put in Africa and the second time the Bahrain-based MMA promotion lands in South Africa. The match between Souza and Hanekom will be the first ever world title contested in the continent.
When Souza made his BRAVE CF debut at “BRAVE CF 25” at the Minas Tenis Clube Arena in Belo Horizonte on August 30, 2019, he knocked out Bruno “Brunao” Assis, 27, of Belo Horizonte. Here is a clip from the bout:
