India’s Vartika Singh finishes in Miss Universe 2019 Top 20 in Atlanta, Georgia

Vartika Brij Nath Singh, 26, of India was one of the quarterfinalists in Miss Universe 2019. She finished in the Top 20 of the 68th edition of the international beauty pageant.

Hosted by Steve Harvey, 62, the Miss Universe 2019 coronation night took place at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, United States on December 8, 2019. Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, 27, and Vanessa Lachey, 39, served as the backstage presenters.

Including Singh, 90 candidates competed for the crown. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray of the Philippines crowned her successor, who wore a new crowned made by luxury jeweler Mouawad.

Four out of the seven members of the all-female jury are from the United States. They were William Morris Endeavor chief marketing officer Bozoma Saint John, 42, Miss USA 2008 Crystle Stewart, 38, blogger Sazan Hendrix, 30, and Miss America 2018 Cara Mund, 26.

Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori, 32, of Japan was the only Asian member of the jury. Actress Gaby Espino, 43, of Venezuela and Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega, 26, of Colombia also served as judges.

Ally Brooke, 26, performed during the ceremony, which was broadcast on Fox and Telemundo. Catriona Gray, 25, of the Philippines graced the ceremony to crown Zozibini Tunzi, 26, of South Africa as her successor, who wore a new crowned made by luxury jeweler Mouawad.

Runner-up to Tunzi was Madison Anderson, 24, Puerto Rico while Sofía Aragón, 25, Mexico was second runner-up. Both Paweensuda Drouin, 26, Thailand and Gabriela Tafur, 24, Colombia finished in the Top 5.

Olga Buława, 28, Poland was voted Miss Congeniality. Gazini Ganados, 23, of the Philippines won the Best in National Costume award.

Singh was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India on August 27, 1993, Singh earned her bachelor’s degree in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics from Isabella Thoburn College in Lucknow. She earned her master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Lucknow in Lucknow.

In 2014, Singh finished in the Top 7 in Miss Diva. She was Femina Miss Grand India 2015 and Miss Grand International 2015 second runner-up.

No Miss Diva was held in 2019. Singh was appointed as Miss Universe India 2019 on September 26, 2019.
