Wailua, Hawaii’s Punahele Soriano earns 1st UFC win, knocks out Oskar Piechota at ‘UFC 245’ in Las Vegas, Nevada

Undefeated mixed martial artist Punahele “Story Time” Soriano, 27, has earned his first victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Fighting out of Wailua, Hawaii, United States, he was one of the winners at “UFC 245.”

Featuring 13 MMA fights, the UFC held “UFC 245” at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on December 14, 2019. In the first bout of the evening, Soriano competed in the middleweight division against Oskar “Imadlo” Piechota, 29, of Gdansk, Poland.

Chris Tognoni served as the referee. He put a stop to the middleweight contest after 3 minutes and 17 seconds in the first round when Soriano knocked out Piechota via punches.

“When I had him hurt, all I could think is that I want to kill him but every punch I hit him with, he looked fine so I took some time to catch my breath and slow down,” Soriano said of Piechota in the post-fight interview. “The future is bright, I want to go back to training as soon as I can.”

Winning at “UFC 245” improved the professional MMA record of Soriano to 8 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Piechota now has 11 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.

Soriano attended Kahuku High School in Kahuku, Hawaii and graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, USA. He started wrestling when he was in eighth grade.

As an MMA fighter, Soriano has been competing professionally since 2017. On June 18, 2019, he won via unanimous decision against Jamie Pickett, 31, of Greenville, North Carolina, USA at “Dana White’s Contender Series” Season 3 episode 1. “UFC 245” marked the undefeated Hawaiian MMA fighter’s UFC debut.
