Suman Rao, 21, of India almost won Miss World 2019. She was the second runner-up of the 69th edition of the oldest running international beauty pageant in the world.
Hosted by Peter Andre and Miss World 2013 Megan Young, the Miss World 2019 coronation night took place at the ExCeL London in London and was broadcast on E!, London Live and Univision. It featured performances by Andre, Lulu and the Misunderstood duo Stephan Benson and Jeffrey Okyere.
Headed by Julia Morley, the panel of judges included Piers Morgan, Mike Dickson, Kamal Ibrahim, Zandra Rhodes, Marsha Rae Ratcliff OBE, Miss World 1975 Wilnelia, Lady Forsyth-Johnson, Miss World 2008 Ksenia Sukhinova, Miss UK 2014 Carina Tyrell and Miss New Zealand 2015 Dr. Deborah Lambie. Two creative directors from KB Couture also served as judges.
It was Toni-Ann Singh, 23, of Jamaica who won the Miss World 2019 title. She was crowned by Miss World 2018 Vanessa Ponce of Mexico.
Runner-up to Singh was Ophély Mézino, 20, of France. Nyekachi Douglas, 20, of Nigeria and Elís Miele Coelho, 20, of Brazil finished in the Top 5.
Moreover, Rao was crowned Miss World Asia 2019 while Mézino was Miss World Europe 2019, Douglas was Miss World Africa 2019 and Coelho was Miss World Americas 2019. The other continental queens were Miss World Caribbean 2019 Tya Janè Ramey, 21, of Trinidad and Tobago and Miss World Oceania 2019 Tajiya Eikura Sahay, 26, of Cook Islands.

Rao was also the second runner-up in the Top Model competition. She was one of the 10 head-to-head challenge winners and was one of the 10 Beauty with a Purpose finalists and she finished in the Top 27 in the talent competition.
Born in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India on November 23, 1998, Rao is an accountancy student in the University of Mumbai in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She was crowned Femina Miss India 2019 on June 15, 2019 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium in Mumbai.
