Fighting out of Fribourg, Switzerland, Volkan “No Time” Oezdemir, 30, has earned his fifth victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was one of the winners at “UFC Fight Night 165,” also called “UFC on ESPN+ 23.”

Featuring 13 mixed martial arts matches, the UFC held “UFC Fight Night 165” at the Sajik Arena in Busan, South Korea on December 21, 2019. In the 12th event of the evening, Oezdemir competed in the light heavyweight division against Aleksandar Rakić, 27, of Vienna, Austria.

Greg Kleynjans served as the referee. After three five-minute rounds, the light heavyweight contest was left in the hands of the three judges.

Two judges scored it 29-28 in favor of Oezdemir while one saw it 28-29 in favor of Rakić. In the end, Kleynjans raised the hand of the Swiss contender, who was declared the winner via split decision.

Winning at “UFC Fight Night 165” improved the professional MMA record of Oezdemir to 17 wins and 4 losses. On the other hand, Rakić now has 12 wins and 2 losses.

In Oezdemir’s post-fight interview, he expressed his interest in having a rematch with Dominick “The Devastator” Reyes, 29, of Victorville, California, USA. The Fribourg native lost via split decision to his opponent from Victorville at “UFC Fight Night 147” at the O2 Arena in London, England on March 16, 2019.

Also, Oezdemir called out Anthony “Lionheart” Smith, 31, of Omaha, Nebraska, USA. The latter currently has 33 wins and 14 losses.

“I’m waiting in the corner for Reyes,” Oezdemir said. “He is going to do his thing and as soon as he is back, I’m going to be here waiting for him. In the meantime, there is someone I want to face again and that person is Anthony Smith.”
