Predicted winners of Metro Manila Film Festival 2019 Gabi ng Parangal

During the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival, only Filipino films will be shown in Philippine theaters except in IMAX and 4D theaters. The traditional Parade of Stars featuring floats of the 45th edition of the annual film festival’s eight entries took place in Taguig, Metro Manila, Philippines on December 22, 2019.

The MMFF 2019 officially kicked off on December 25, 2019 and will end on January 7, 2020. The Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) will be on December 27, 2019.

I was able to watch all the eight MMFF 2019 films on December 26, 2019. Here are my predicted winners:

  • Best Picture: “Mindanao” (Center Stage Productions)
  • 2nd Best Picture: “Miracle in Cell No. 7” (Viva Films)
  • 3rd Best Picture: “Culion” (iOptions Ventures Corp.)
  • Gatpuno Antonio J. Villegas Cultural Award: “Mindanao” (Center Stage Productions)
  • Fernando Poe Jr. Memorial Award: “Mission Unstapabol: The Don Identity” (M-ZET TV Productions, APT Entertainment)
  • Best Director: Brillante Mendoza (“Mindanao”)
  • Best Actor in a Leading Role: Allen Dizon (“Mindanao”)
  • Best Actress in a Leading Role: Judy Ann Santos (“Mindanao”)
  • Special Jury Prize: Aga Muhlach, Xia Vigor (“Miracle in Cell No. 7”)
  • Full-Length Film – People’s Choice Award: “The Mall, The Merrier” (Star Cinema, Viva Films)
  • Best Screenplay: Honee Alipio (“Mindanao”)
  • Best Actor in a Supporting Role: Soliman Cruz (“Miracle in Cell No. 7”)
  • Best Actress in a Supporting Role: Mai Fanglayan (“Culion”)
  • Best Child Performer: Yuna Tangog (“Mindanao”)
