
South Korean singer and songwriter Kim Hee Chul, 36, of Super Junior and Japanese singer and dancer Momo Hirai, 22, of TWICE, whose respective stage names are Heechul and Momo were reportedly dating. Their respective labels Label SJ and JYP Entertainment have confirmed.
“Hello, this is Label SJ,” Label SJ said in a statement. “We have confirmed with Heechul and Momo that they have recently started dating from being a close sunbae and hoobae. Thank you.”
SM Entertainment producer Lee Soo Man formed Super Junior on November 6, 2005. The entertainment company announced that on November 6, 2015 that Label SJ was the group’s own exclusive label management.
“Hello, this is JYP Entertainment,”JYP Entertainment said in a statement. “We are confirming that Heechul and Momo are in a relationship. They have recently started a relationship that grew from a sunbae-hoobae friendship in the industry. Thank you.”
JYP Entertainment formed TWICE through the Mnet reality show “Sixteen.” On October 20, 2015, the group debuted with the extended play “The Story Begins.”
Previously, Label SJ denied the rumors about Heechul and Momo dating. In 2019, the label said, “Super Junior’s Heechul and TWICE’s Momo are simply ordinary, close sunbae-hoobaes, and the dating rumors are false.”
In 2015, Momo appeared in the music video of “Sweet Dream” by Heechul and Min Kyung Hoon, 34, of Buzz. As a duo, Heechul and Min are known as Universe Cowards.
Heechul appeared in the episode of the Sky Drama show “Why are You at My House?” aired on August 4, 2019. In the show, the Super Junior member revealed that he is scared of opening curtains at home and he has never gone on an overseas trip with a girlfriend.
“When I buy a plane ticket, the fans know when I depart,” Heechul explained. “I received a lot of stress in the past so I changed the plane ticket overseas but they still knew everything. I’ve never used a personal email and I’m scared of opening the curtains.”
