Chanya McClory (ชัญญา แม็คคลอรี่ย์), 25, was one of the winners at the 2019 Asian Television Awards. It was the 24th edition of the annual awarding ceremony that recognizes achievements in the Asian TV industry.
McClory won the award for Best Leading Female Performance in a Digital Series for her performance in “The Deadline.” In the category, she bested her fellow Thai actresses Kannika Namwicha and Machida Sutthikulphanich, who star in “Prison Rat” and “Abandoned,” respectively.
Born on November 25, 1994, McClory is of British, Chinese and Thai descent. She played Nahm in the Netflix series “The Stranded.”
The 24th Asian TV Awards took place at the Newport Performing Arts Theater of Resorts World Manila in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines from January 10-12, 2020. Cathy Yang, Mark Neumann, Ase Wang and Wallace Ang served as the hosts.
“The Deadline” was named Best Original Digital Drama Series. It bested “Great Men Academy” from Thailand, “Born Beautiful” of the Philippines, “Paddles Up!” of Singapore, “KL Gangster Underworld” of Malaysia and “MAMBA: The Dream” of Hong Kong.
The Best Scriptwriting for Web Series award was given to “The Deadline.” It bested “What the Duck: The Series” of Thailand, “PADDLES UP!” of Singapore and “I Actor” of China.
Ruhainies Farehah, Martin del Rosario, Karylle and Diana Zubiri were among the presenters. Martin Nievera, Morisette, Jona, Anggun, Cherry Bullet, Jasmine Henry, Kiana Valenciano, Gab Valenciano, Hoang Yen Chibi, Kris Lawrence and Arman Ferrer performed during the event.
Anggun Cipta Sami, 45, of Indonesia was honored for her outstanding contribution to Asian TV performing arts. She was a judge in the first three seasons of “Asia’s Got Talent” and in the first season of France’s version of “The Masked Singer” titled “Le Chanteur Masqué.”
Manuel V. Pangilinan, 74, of the Philippines also received an award for his outstanding contribution to Asian TV. Line Company (Thailand) Limited was named Cable, Satellite or Online Network of the Year while China Global Television Network (CGTN) was Terrestrial Broadcaster of the Year.
