The United States, Vietnam and Japan will be represented at “ONE: Warrior’s Code,” the first ONE Championship event to take place in Indonesia in 2020. Indonesia will also be represented along with Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Cyprus, England, Italy, Moldova, the Netherlands, Russia, South Korea, Thailand and Timor Leste.
ONE Championship will hold “ONE: Warrior’s Code” at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia on February 7, 2020. Featured on the fight card are not only mixed martial arts fights but also ONE Super Series contests, which are kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts.
Among the MMA fights is between Bi “Killer Bee” Nguyen, 30, who is fighting out of Vietnam by way of the U.S., and Itsuki “Strong Heart Fighter” Hirata (平田樹), 20, of Japan. They will compete in the women’s atomweight division.
Nguyen will pit her grit and experience against Hirata’s vaunted grappling. The Vietnamese-American fighter certainly will face another stern test as all of her Japanese opponent’s victories have thus far come by submission.
Hirata was born in Tokyo, Japan on August 24, 1999. She has been competing professionally since 2018.
Training out of K-Clann in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo, Hirata joined ONE Championship in 2019. She defeated two opponents namely Angelie “The Explorer” Sabanal, 30, of the Philippines and Rika “Tiny Doll” Ishige, 30, of Thailand.
Still undefeated, Hirata holds a professional MMA record of 5 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, Nguyen currently has 5 wins and 5 losses.
Born in Vietnam on October 30, 1989, Nguyen was 8 years old when she and her family moved to the U.S. She has been competing professionally since 2014.
In 2019, Nguyen joined ONE Championship and defeated two out of four opponents. She knocked out Dwi Ani Retro Wulan, 21, of Indonesia in an MMA bout and defeated Puja “The Cyclone” Tomar, 25, of India in a Muay Thai fight.
Headlining “ONE: Warrior’s Code” are Petchmorakot Petchyindee Academy, 26, of Thailand and Jamal “Kherow” Yusupov, 36, of Russia. They will compete for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Championship.
