Known for singing with male and female voices, Marcelito Pomoy, 35 of the Philippines is one of the contestants of “America’s Got Talent: The Champions” Season 2, which premiered on NBC on January 6, 2020. Get to know more about the Filipino singer with these 13 facts:

 

  1. He was born on September 22, 1984 in Mangangoy, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, Philippines.
  2. He worked as a bowling alley pin boy in Mangagoy.
  3. He was adopted by a police officer when he was young after his father went to jail and his mother left him and his younger sibling.
  4. He developed his singing skills without a vocal coach.
  5. He auditioned for the Philippine “Got Talent” version “Pilipinas Got Talent” Season 2 on March 5, 2011 and was declared the winner on June 26, 2011 after singing “The Prayer” by Celine Dion and Josh Groban, taking home a two-million-peso grand prize.
  6. He married Joan Paraiso of Calauag, Quezon, Philippines on September 21, 2014.
  7. Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao and “Crazy Rich Asian” star Kris Aquino were among the principal sponsors of his wedding with Paraiso while “Pilipinas Got Talent” Season 1 Jovit Baldivino was the best man, singers Bryan Termulo and Bugoy Drilon and host Robi Domingo were secondary sponsors and singers Liezel Garcia and Morisette Amon and actor Saicy Aguila were the bridesmaids.
  8. He and Paraiso have one daughter named Marcella Janiah Paraiso Pomoy.
  9. Joan also serves as his manager.
  10. He owns two hardware stores.
  11. In 2015, he considered quitting music for good to focus on his business.
