Dai-ichi Life Insurance Myanmar Ltd. has appointed “Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang, 34, as its brand ambassador. In this role, the Burmese ONE Championship fighter will work with the company, which is part of leading Japanese life insurer Dai-ichi Life Group, on its goal to promote life insurance in Myanmar.
“I am committed to the cause of improving the lives of our people in Myanmar, just as they have supported me throughout my career,” Aung said. “For me, insurance is a safeguard of the future for myself and my family. It is something everyone needs and I want to help Dai-ichi Life spread this understanding in our country.”
Born in Myitkyina, Kachin, Myanmar on May 21, 1985, Aung is an avid supporter of Myanmar-based community projects for childhood education, farmers’ welfare and other causes. The country’s liberalization of the insurance sector has provided experienced foreign insurers with the opportunity to bring dramatic change and catapult the nascent sector into a thriving industry that is sensitive to the needs of the people.
The partnership will see Aung appearing in Dai-ichi Life’s community and business initiatives to increase awareness on the importance of insurance. These will include events for customers, agents, partners and employees, where he will speak on the benefits of life insurance and the company’s products and services.
Dai-ichi Life was granted its full operational license for Life Insurance in November 2019. Daw Zarchi Tin is the Dai-ichi Life Insurance Myanmar CEO while Yoshihito Takahama serves as the Dai-ichi Life Insurance Myanmar deputy CEO.
“I appreciate that Dai-ichi Life is led by a local CEO and a diverse management team who understand the needs of the people and have a long-term vision for them. I also feel strongly for their drive to support communities through meaningful initiatives. I look forward to the good work we will do together.”
Aung is the reigning ONE Middleweight and Light Heavyweight World Champion. He is set to have his trilogy match with Vitaly Bigdash of Russia at “ONE Infinity 1” on April 10, 2020.
