Giga Chikadze, 31, of Georgia was one of the winners at “UFC 248.” It was the Georgian mixed martial artist’s second win in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Featuring 11 MMA matches, including two title bouts, the UFC held “UFC 248” at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States on March 7, 2020. In the second bout of the evening, Chikadze competed against Jamall “Prettyboy” Emmers, 30, of Redlands, California, United States in the featherweight division.

Mark Smith served as the referee. With a right hand, Chikadze scored a knockdown of Emmers but the latter rose and they continued the bout standing in the first round.

Emmers took Chikadze to the ground in the second round but the latter was able to reverse the position and got back to his feet. In the third round, the Californian contender scored a takedown and ground-and-pound but they were not enough to finish the fight.

After three five-minute rounds, the featherweight contest was left in the hands of the judges. Two judges scored the bout 29-28 in favor of the fighter in the red corner while the third judge scored it 29-28 in favor of the fighter in the blue corner.

In the end, Smith raised the hand of Chikadze. The Georgian MMA fighter was declared the winner via split decision.

Losing to Chikadze downgraded the professional MMA record of Emmers to 17 wins and 5 losses. On the other hand, the Georgian MMA fighter now has 9 wins and 2 losses.

Chikadze made his UFC debut at “UFC Fight Night 160” on September 28, 2019. He defeated Brandon “Killer B” Davis, 29, of Starkville, Mississippi, USA via split decision.

Before joining the UFC, Chikadze competed in World Series of Fighting, Gladiator Challenge and “Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.” “UFC 248” marked his second bout in the UFC.

Including Georgia and the U.S., a total of 12 countries were represented at “UFC 248.” The others were Argentina, Brazil, China, Cuba, Denmark, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Poland and Russia.
