All ONE Championship events scheduled in April 2020 and May 2020 will be turned into closed-door events with no live audience. The Singapore-based martial arts organization has four events in this period.
The decision was made due to the worsening novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation in the world. ONE Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong took to Facebook on March 12, 2020 to make the announcement.
The upcoming closed-door ONE Championship events will commence in Singapore. The events are scheduled on April 17, 2020, on April 24, 2020, on May 1, 2020 and on May 29, 2020.
Originally, “ONE Infinity 1” was scheduled at Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia. But due to the threats of COVID-19, it will be moved to the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Metro Manila, Philippines on May 29, 2020.
Three title bouts were originally announced for “ONE Infinity 1.” One of these is a ONE Super Series match between reigning ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion Roman Kryklia, 28, of Ukraine and his challenger Andrei “Mister KO” Stoica, 32, of Romania.
The trilogy bout between reigning ONE Middleweight World Champion Aung La N Sang and former champion Vitaly Bigdash was announced to be at “ONE Infinity 1,” as well. In the original schedule, ONE Flyweight Grand Prix Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson, 33, of the United States was scheduled to challenge reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes, 30, of Brazil in the main event.
“ONE Infinity 2” was originally set for SM Mall of Asia Arena on May 29, 2020, which was supposed to be headlined by reigning ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera, 42, of the Philippines and his challenger Arjan “Singh” Bhullar, 33 of India.
Two more bouts were previously announced for “ONE Infinity 2.” Undefeated fighter Iuri Lapicus, 24, of Moldova and Italy will challenge reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee, 21, Singapore while Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez, 30, of the U.S. will face Saygid “Dagi” Guseyn Arslanaliev, 24, of Turkey in the lightweight division.
