The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela was led by the late Hugo Chávez from 1999 to 2013. He was succeeded by Nicolás Maduro whose presidency was challenged by the National Assembly, which declared Juan Guaidó as the acting president of the country on January 23, 2019.
A South American country consisting of a continental landmass and many small islands and islets in the Caribbean Sea, Venezuela ranks seventh in the list of countries with the most number of species in the world. It is also home to seven Miss Universe winners, six Miss World winners, eight Miss International winners and two Miss Earth winners.
