Adam Driver biography: 13 things about actor, former Lance Corporal

Adam Driver is an actor and model of Dutch, English, German, Irish and Scottish descent. He was born in San Diego, California, United States to Joe Douglas Driver and Nancy Needham Wright.

Joe is from Arkansas, USA while Wright is from Mishawaka, Indiana, USA. Adam’s stepfather Rodney G. Wright is a minister at a Baptist church.

From 2005 to 2009, Adam was a member of Drama Division’s Group 38 where he met Joanne Tucker. They got married in June 2013.

Adam was rejected the first time he applied to the Juilliard School, a private performing arts conservatory in New York City, New York, USA. After studying for one year at the University of Indianapolis, a private United Methodist Church-affiliated university in Indianapolis, Indiana, he auditioned again for the Juilliard School and was successful.

In 2009, Adam graduated from the Juilliard School with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. As an actor, he made his television debut in 2009 by playing Will Slansky in “The Unusuals” episode “The E.I.D.” and made his film debut in 2011 by playing Walter Lyle in the Clint Eastwood’s film “J. Edgar.”

  2. He was raised Baptist and was a choir member at church.
  3. He was 18 years old when he graduated from Mishawaka High School at 1202 Lincoln Way East in Mishawaka in 2001.
  4. After high school, he worked as a door-to-door salesman selling Kirby vacuum cleaners and as a telemarketer for a basement waterproofing company and Ben Franklin Construction.
  5. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps shortly after the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda’s coordinated terrorist attacks against the U.S. on September 11, 2001.
  6. He was assigned as an 81mm mortar man to Weapons Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines.
  7. After serving for two years and eight months in the U.S. Marine Corps, he fractured his sternum while mountain biking so he was medically discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal.
  8. As a model, he worked with GAP for its Back to Blue campaign and with Vogue.
  9. From 2012 to 2017, he played Adam Sackler in “Girls,” which earned him his first Emmy Awards nomination.
