Action sports brand Vans, a global advocate for creative expression, has announced the worldwide expansion of its celebrated music platform Vans Musicians Wanted. It has also revealed some of the prizes of the winners of its global music competition.
The Vans Global Music Competition is now open to artists of all genres.Top 5 artists from Asia Pacific will perform at the Vans Musicians Wanted Virtual Concert in December 2020 and will receive free album distribution through Spinnup, the distribution service of Universal Music Group for independent artists.
One grand prize winner will be selected to receive Vans product, Fender Gear, Vans Spotify and Apple Music playlisting, music video produced by Universal Music Group and one year of free and unlimited global music distribution from Spinnup. He or she will also have the opportunity to share the stage with Brandon “Anderson .Paak” Paak Anderson, 34, of Oxnard, California, United States as the opening act in 2021.
.Paak and Turkish-Irish-Barbadian singer-songwriter Nilüfer Yanya, 24, of London, England will serve as special guest judges who will select the Top 5 artists of the Vans Global Music Competition. They will join guest judges Destin Choice “J.I.D” Route, 29, of Atlanta, Georgia, USA and Bohan “Bohan Phoenix” Leng, 28, of New York City, New York, USA.
The final chapter of Vans’ “THIS IS OFF THE WALL“ brand campaign was released on September 2, 2020. The brand shares the compelling journey of J.I.D and Phoenix, who express their personal identities through music.
Vans is inspired by J.I.D and Phoenix’s experiences of fusing cultural identity with raw musical prowess. The stories of the two young artists within the hip hop industry serves as a catalyst for the next generation of musicians looking to come up from their bedrooms to main stage.
