Shane D. Holbert, 21, Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska, United States is in jail. He alleged fatally shot Playtonae Wilson, 20, near Arbor Villa Apartments in Omaha at around 1:21 a.m. on September 27, 2020.
The special weapons and tactics (SWAT) team of the Omaha Police Department was called out to assist the department’s homicide detectives for a no-knock daytime search warrant for Holbert’s arrest. The suspect was located and arrested without incident.
Holbert was booked into Douglas County Corrections in Omaha. He was charged with first degree murder, use of a weapon to commit a felony, possession of a weapon by a prohibited person, theft by unlawful taking more than $1500, possession of a stolen firearm and robbery.
Whether or not Holbert and Wilson knew each other has yet to be confirmed. Authorities did not announce Wilson was also an Omaha resident.
On May 26, 2017, Holbert was strolling near Miller Park Elementary in Omaha with friends when he was shot at by a group of individuals. The gunmen were not identified.
Holbert was hit in the right thigh. However, he was uninjured because an iPhone and an iPad in his pocket stopped the bullet, Omaha World Herald reported.
