Gregory Coc Boyd was an American pastor from Miami, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. On September 10, 2020, he left their home to buy dinner for the family.

At around 6:05 p.m., Boyd was shot in the chest and the leg while he was walking back to his car in the parking lot in front of Shoe Time near The Village Flea Market and Mall in the area of Northwest 27th Avenue and 79th Street in West Little River, Miami-Dade County. He was caught in the crossfire of a gang-related shooting involving his Miami residents Nathaniel Bernard Roberson, Latravia Charm Bell and Mikal Nelson Norman.

  1. He was a native of Florida.
  2. Aside from Miami, he lived in other areas of Florida including Tamarac, Lauderhill and Plantation.
  3. He was the leader of the New Birth Harvest Outreach Ministries Churches of Deliverance in Miami.

  5. In 1996, he married Dorothy A. Boyd. She told WPLG, “He was my friend, my best friend, my fishing partner. He was a great man.”
  6. In 2011, he and Deborah Boyd co-founded the New Birth Harvest Outreach Ministries Churches of Deliverance.
  7. After being shot on September 10, 2020, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported him to the Jackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center in Miami. He died a short time after arriving at the medical center.
  8. On September 12, 2020, his daughter Sharita Boyd Cooper and her husband Nathaniel Cooper set up a GoFundMe page, which was deactivated on September 15, 2020. Nathaniel explained that the family “does not need money for funeral services, for everything has been covered.”
  9. As an activist, he hoped to stop the violence near the northwest Miami area, his son-in-law Nathaniel told CBS Miami on September 18, 2020.
  10. He would have turned 45 on September 27, 2020.
