Torey Jovon Cordland is an African-American man. He is a native of Toledo, Ohio, United States.

  5. He was accused of punching a 63-year-old woman in her chest in the evening of February 26, 2012 and tried to choke out one of the police officers who arrested him.
  6. On June 1, 2015, he and his fellow Toledo native Amanda Phillips, a white woman born in 1985, applied for a marriage license, according to Toledo Blade.
  7. On March 6, 2018, he took Philips to the movies to see “Black Panther,” which starred Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Daniel Kaluuya, Martin Freeman, Winston Duke, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira,  Angela Bassett and Letitia Wright.
  8. The Toledo Police Department arrested him and Jackie Lee Dickens on October 19, 2020 at 11:30 p.m.
  9. He and Dickens were accused of holding a woman captive on or around October 1, 2020 in a bedroom locked from the outside with windows that were screwed shut. The woman reported to police that he and Dickens confined her to the bedroom for several days and the two struck her multiple times on the head, face and body over the course of several days while held captive, WTOL reported.
  10. He and Dickens were charged with kidnapping to terrorize or to inflict serious physical harm on the victim or another.
  11. He was booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center in Toledo on October 20, 2020 at 12:03 a.m. He appeared in Toledo Municipal Court in the morning.
  12. His bond was set at $250,000.
  13. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 27, 2020.
