Whether or not Khalid Smiri, 20, of Madison, Dane County, Wisconsin, United States is a graffiti artist is up for debate. What is not debatable is the fact that he is currently in jail

Aside from Madison, Smiri has lived in other parts of Wisconsin including Fitchburg. He is of Tunisian descent.

On October 31, 2020, Smiri was caught spray-painting graffiti on buildings at Madison’s Capitol Squad, a bus shelter and pavement with crude phrases. Some of the phrases were calling for the murder of police officers.

Probable cause was developed to arrest Smiri. At around 10:25 a.m., he was arrested on N. Carroll Street in Madison by officers from the Madison Police Department and the Wisconsin State Capitol Police Department

While being arrested, Smiri allegedly spat at police officers. He is also accused of repeatedly calling a black officer a racial epithet.

Smiri was booked into the Dane County Jail in Madison. He is facing tentative charges of criminal damage to property, discharge of bodily fluids at a public safety worker and resisting or obstructing.
