The 69th edition of Miss Universe will not be held in 2020 due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is expected to be held in the first quarter of 2021 in the United States.
Based in New York City, New York, USA, the Miss Universe Organization is currently owned by the WME/IMG talent agency. It has yet to announce the date and venue of Miss Universe 2020.
Besting 89 other candidates, Zozibini Tunzi, 27, of South Africa was crowned Miss Universe 2019 at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on December 8, 2019. She is reportedly crowning her successor in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on February 14, 2021.
As of December 20, 2020, there are 59 candidates confirmed to be competing at Miss Universe 2020. Five more candidates from Ireland, Italy, Myanmar, Nepal and Belize are expected to be crowned before 2021.
If the Miss Universe 2020 coronation night is really taking place on Valentine’s Day in 2021, the other participating countries that have yet to crown their respective candidates still have two months. There are around 30 more national candidates that are expected to be crowned in 2021 before the international competition.
While waiting for Tunzi to crown her successor, beauty pageant fans from around the world are already debating about who among the confirmed Miss Universe 2020 candidates is mostly likely to win. One of them is Miqueal-Symone Williams, 23, of Mona, Jamaica.
Williams was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2020 at the Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica Resort in Salt Coppers on Runaway Bay in Jamaica on December 12, 2020. She is an international model who has worked with ELLE, Marie Claire, Armani and Valentino.
Crowned Miss Universe Cambodia 2020 on November 26, 2020 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Sarita Reth, 25, is expected to make history at Miss Universe 2020. She is expected to either win the crown or become the first candidate from Cambodia to place in the international beauty pageant.
Also considered strong candidates are Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens, 27, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Miss Universe Romania 2020 Bianca Lorena Tirsin, 22, of Transylvania, Romania and Miss Universe Australia 2020 Maria Thattil, 27, of Melbourne, Australia.
