Living in the Republic of South Africa is a multiethnic society with various languages, cultures and religions. Bloemfontein, Cape Town and Pretoria are its respective judicial, legislative and executive capital cities.
Dubbed as the rainbow nation, South Africa prides itself on its multicultural diversity. It has 11 official languages namely Afrikaans, English, Northern Sotho, Swazi, Southern Ndebele, Southern Sotho, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu.
Frederik Willem de Klerk and the late Nelson Mandela led efforts to negotiate an end to apartheid in South Africa. The latter served as the president of the country from 1994 to 1999, making him the first black African to hold the position.
South Africa is one of the favorite destinations of travelers from all over the world. Among its top tourist destinations are the Cape Winelands, the Durban Beaches, the Table Mountain and the Kruger National Park.
