Tessa Brooke Knapp, 21, of Nashville, Tennessee, United States has been arrested by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. She was charged with murder in the death of Amanda Byers, 20.
Knapp and Byers were roommates. The latter died on February 5, 2021.
Prior to Byers’ death, she told investigators that Knapp ran her over with a car in the parking lot of the Rodeway Inn on Old Hickory Boulevard in Hermitage, Nashville on February 1, 2021. Byers also accused Knapp of stealing her money and other belongings.
Byers’ accusations were corroborated by surveillance video. According to police, the victim tried to block a vehicle driven by Knapp in the Rodeway Inn parking lot on February 1, 2021.
Witnesses told investigators that they heard Byers yelling for the driver to stop. After knocking down the victim and running her over by the front driver’s side tire, the driver stopped the vehicle for a moment before rolling over her again with the rear tire.
On February 12, 2021, Knapp was arrested on Rosa L. Parks Blvd in Nashville, WKRN reported. She is being held without bond pending a hearing.
This was not the first time Knapp was arrested. On September 30, 2020, she jumped into a truck being used by a 16-year-old boy at the Hunter Creek Apartments in Hunter Creek in Lebanon, Wilson County, Tennessee.
The boy’s father called the Lebanon Police Department. When an LPD officer arrived, Knapp was speaking erratically and was not steady on her feet.
The officer had to take Knapp down to the ground with an armbar. She then yelled, “I am resisting! I am resisting!”
Knapp was arrested, booked into the Wilson County jail in Lebanon and charged with public intoxication, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine and incarcerated on a $3,000 bond, Scoop Nashville reported. During her arrest, 1.5 grams of methamphetamine was found in her wallet.
