The 69th edition of Miss Universe was not held in 2020 due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. It is expected to be held in 2021 in the United States.
Based in New York City, New York, USA, the Miss Universe Organization is currently owned by the WME/IMG talent agency. It has yet to announce the date and venue of Miss Universe 2020.
Besting 89 other candidates, Zozibini Tunzi, 27, of South Africa was crowned Miss Universe 2019 at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, USA on December 8, 2019. She is reportedly crowning her successor in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA on Mother’s Day, which will be on May 9, 2021.
Other reports claim that the Miss Universe 2020 coronation night will be on May 16, 2021. As of March 2, 2021, there are 67 candidates confirmed to be competing to be Tunzi’s successor.
If the Miss Universe 2020 coronation night is really taking place in May 2021, the other participating countries that have yet to crown their respective candidates still have less than two months.
While waiting for Tunzi to crown her successor, beauty pageant fans from around the world are already debating about who among the confirmed Miss Universe 2020 candidates is mostly likely to win.
One of them is Miqueal-Symone Williams, 23, of Mona, Jamaica, who was crowned Miss Universe Jamaica 2020 at the Bahia Principe Grand Jamaica Resort in Salt Coppers on Runaway Bay in Jamaica on December 12, 2020. She is an international model who has worked with ELLE, Marie Claire, Armani and Valentino.
Crowned Miss Universe Cambodia 2020 on November 26, 2020 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Sarita Reth, 25, is expected to make history at Miss Universe 2020. She is expected to either win the crown or become the first candidate from Cambodia to place in the international beauty pageant.
Also considered strong candidates are Miss Universe Canada 2020 Nova Stevens, 27, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Miss Universe Romania 2020 Bianca Lorena Tirsin, 22, of Transylvania, Romania and Miss Universe Australia 2020 Maria Thattil, 27, of Melbourne, Australia.
